Here scuba divers brave limited visibility (sometimes absolutely ZERO visibility) to feel around the muddy bottoms by hand to recover these timeless treasures. Dangers faced in the recovery of these teeth include the terrible visibility, very strong river currents, unseen obstacles, boat traffic, sharks, stingrays, and alligators in some locations. ABOUT THE MEGALODON SHARK AND FOSSILIZED MEGALODON SHARK TEETH

Carcharocles megalodon was the largest shark in history and one of the world's largest predators in general. This massive animal lived during the Early Pliocene-Late Miocene epochs (approximately 3.5-8 million years ago) and its ancestors (Carcharocles chubutensis, angustidens, auriculatus, aksuaticus, and Otodus obliquus) date back to around 60 million years ago. This shark reached lengths of at least 60 feet (18 meters) with a weight of around 50 TONS. This is more than three times the length of the largest Great White Shark but with an overall mass 25 TIMES more than the Great White. Quite simply the megalodon shark was the most amazing and intriguing shark of all time.

For the most part all that remains of this enormous shark are the fossilized megalodon teeth. Luckily for collectors, fossil megalodon shark teeth (while quite difficult to find) are plentiful enough to be able to satisfy collector interests. Fossilized megalodon shark teeth come in all sizes (up to 7" in length), colors, condition/quality, and are sourced from many different locations around the world. Fossil megalodon shark teeth are most commonly found in the Southeastern United States from Florida to North Carolina although there are many more isolated locations where they occur in Virginia, Maryland, and California. Megalodon teeth are also found in Pliocene/Miocene fossil deposits worldwide (Peru, Japan, Indonesia, Belgium, Morocco, etc. etc.).

Factors in the value of fossilized megalodon shark teeth are numerous. Rarer localities can command a premium but the most important factors in the value of megalodon teeth is the overall quality and size. Larger teeth over 5" are much less commonly found than the smaller teeth in the 3"-4" size range and are obviously worth more money. Megalodon shark teeth found in perfect condition have razor-sharply serrated edges, complete root, enamel, and bourlette. To find a tooth of this quality after 5 million years is substantially rarer than finding one that has been exposed to water currents and suffered wear or damage. The vast majority of fossilized megalodon shark teeth offered for sale will have some wear or damage after such a long time waiting to be discovered! So when a tooth is found that is in near pristine condition the value is incrementally more than the normal worn or damaged tooth. Colors or different color patterns can also play an important factor in the value. Megalodon teeth can be found in just about every possible hue with the most typically seen being different shades of gray. Any other colors can be quite exotic and more valuable.

Fossilized megalodon shark teeth are a very unique gift item that are ALWAYS appreciated by the recipient as there's really nothing comparable to holding such a large piece of natural history in your hands. Whether you're buying for yourself or someone else you literally can't go wrong with one of our 100% authentic and natural fossil megalodon shark teeth. Thank you so much for your interest and business!
